On February 19, 2018 the Chinese new year (also named Spring Festival) celebration was hosted by Confucius Institute at Yeditepe University. Vice Rector Professor Ahmet Aydın delivered the opening address and expressed his best wishes to the audience from Yeditepe, Boğaziçi, Okan, Doğuş, Aydın, Marmara universities and the Turkey-China Culture Center. Mr. HU Yuzhe, the Consul from the Chinese Consulate General in İstanbul, also addressed the audience and explained the significance of Chinese New Year for the lives of Chinese people. The occasion was defined as the most important traditional festival for the family members to get together and share the gains and the pains of the whole year. Turkish and Chinese performers staged various shows featuring joy and harmony. The event brought together Chinese songs, Tai Ji Quan, traditional Chinese musical instruments, Chinese calligraphy, dances by members of Yeditepe University Folklore Club, and chorus by the university's World Music Club.
