2021 Nankai University Application Information for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

 

  • Eligibility

All applicants shall be between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2021). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45, while undergraduate student applicants shall not be over 25.

  • Bachelor’s degree holders;
  • A minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 5) as well as a minimum score of 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level);

  • Priority will be given to applicants who can provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to a same effect.

  • High school graduates;
  • A minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 4) as well as a minimum score of 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).

Students Enrolled for One-Academic-Year Study

September 2021 Admission, 11 Months of Scholarship

    International students currently studying in China are not eligible.

  • Major in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages; a minimum score of 270 on the HSK Test (Level 3); an HSKK test score is required.
  • Majors in Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy; a minimum score of 180 on the HSK Test (Level 4); a minimum score of 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level)
  • Major in Chinese Language; a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 3); priority will be given to applicants who may provide HSKK test score.

Students Enrolled for One-Semester Study

September 2021 or March 2022 Admission, 5 Months of Scholarship

    Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.

  • Majors in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History or Chinese Philosophy; a minimum score of 180 on the HSK Test (Level 3); an HSKK test score is required.
  • Major in Taiji Culture; HSK Test score is required; priority will be given to applicants who may provide HSKK test score.

Students Enrolled for Four-Week Study

July 2021 or December 2021 Admission, 4 Weeks of Scholarship

Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.

  • Majors in Chinese Language or Chinese Language plus Home-Stay Experience in a Chinese Family; HSK Test score is required.
  • Register through the recommending institutions in groups (10-15 persons per group), contact the university in advance to determine the plan studying in China and gain approval from the headquarter in the university.

 

 

 

 

 

2. Application Procedures

  1. Please log on to the Nankai University application website (http://nankai.17gz.org), and complete the online application for international students of Nankai University.

 

  1. Starting from March 1, 2021, applicants can visit the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application website (cis.english.cn) and submit their application materials online.

 

  1. Follow the application process, official comments and scholarship evaluation results.

 

  1. Confirm with the university the procedures for studying in China and print the scholarship certificate online (cis.english.cn).

 

  1. Enroll and report for school at the time specified in the admission notice.

3. The Scholarship Coverage and Criteria

Full scholarship winners are exempted from tuition, accommodation fees on campus, and are provided with monthly living allowance (except students for four-week study program), and comprehensive medical insurance.

Accommodation is arranged by the university and is usually in a two-bedroom apartment.

Monthly living allowances are given on a monthly basis: for undergraduate students, one-academic year study and one-semester study students is CNY2,500/month; for master's degree students in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, CNY 3,000/month.

The comprehensive medical insurance will be purchased by the university with reference to the relevant regulations of the Chinese Ministry of Education on studying in China.

 

4. Others

Chinese Bridge winners who have been awarded the 2021 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate shall log onto the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website and submit documents upon presentation of their scholarship certificates.

1. A photocopy of passport

2. Scanned copies of HSK and HSKK test score reports (valid for 2 years)

3.Letter(s) of recommendation from the head of the recommending institutions

4. Highest degree certificate (or an official pre-graduation certificate) and academic transcripts

5. Foreigner Physical Examination Form, in English. Applicants should strictly follow the guidelines in the form. The Form will be considered as invalid in case of incomplete information, or forms without a sealed photo of the applicant, or the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital. The examination result will be valid for six months, so please make sure to report for school before it expires.

 6. For master’s degree students in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors. Priority will be given to applicants who can provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China.

7. Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment as well as a reference letter by the employer.

8. Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China.
